Beyonce - Countdown
The video starts with a close up of Beyonce. This establishes the artist and her beauty which is the USP of Beyonce's songs. It then cuts to a long shot of Beyonce dancing. All of the shots of Beyonce dancing are long shots. This allows the audience to see every aspect of the dance.
This long shot of a split screen merge is effective because it shows different personalities of Beyonce and is attracts the audience through the abnormal.
The video starts with a close up of Beyonce. This establishes the artist and her beauty which is the USP of Beyonce's songs. It then cuts to a long shot of Beyonce dancing. All of the shots of Beyonce dancing are long shots. This allows the audience to see every aspect of the dance.
The video also uses a lot of split screens. This effect attracts the audience as it is different and unexpected from the predictable close up previously. There are also other split screens used that show all the different sides to Beyonce. For example, fun and sexy.
The different colours used in the video in one shot is very effective as it portrays a sense of fun and is very attractive. Also, the fact that they have put Beyonce is one shot doing the same shoulder movement is very attractive and in time with the beat of the song. Also, the fact that it shows her whole body in a long shot conveys the 'sex appeal'.
The quick change in location is very key in a music video. In a music video generally the location changed every third of the song. All the outfits have changed and the location is completely different. This makes the video more exiting and not boring. Also, the abnormal image of people dancing in front of Beyonce attracts the audience as it is out of the ordinary. This is defiantly something we could take into consideration for our music video.
This bit that goes back to the colourful split screens is effective because again, the audience do not get bored. Also, the mixture of extreme close ups, mid-shots and long shots gives the video an edge and again, is very attractive.
We really like this shot as is portrays another side to Beyonce and again, is out of the ordinary. It is a very quick shot which conveys the speed of the song and gives a different view on the dancing. This long shot of a split screen merge is effective because it shows different personalities of Beyonce and is attracts the audience through the abnormal.
This is also shown in this shot where Beyonce is shown doing different movement on a Countdown. This is good because its fits in to the genre of the song and the good effects shown.
The video then establishes a new location of a dance studio. This is the 3rd location. This should mean a new look and different story for Beyonce.
This mid shot shows the new look for Beyonce and creates a different atmosphere. The whole theme of dancing all the way through expresses the emotions Beyonce expresses through her music. The shot being through a window is really effective as it is different and unusual.
This next split scene also shows a different personality from Beyonce. It shows the side to her that loves the 60's. This may come from her part she played in her film 'Dream Girls' filmed in the 60's. This is a loveable side to Beyonce that attracts all different audiences.
